Ko Samet ( Thai : เกาะ เสม็ด , also Koh Samed ) is an island in the Gulf of Thailand , the coastline of the province of Rayong ( Thailand ‘s) upstream approximately 6.5 kilometers.

Location and characteristics of
The island has beautiful sandy beaches and excellent dive sites in the coral are seen. Today, increasingly, tourists come and weekend visitors to the nearby capital of Bangkok for recreation there. The accommodation on the island consist mainly of simple huts, but you can also camp , provided you have the necessary equipment.

Transport
The usual journey way via Bangkok for tourists from the bus station Ekkamai on Sukhumvit Road ( Sukhumvit Road ), the bus takes about three and a half hours to Ban Phe . From there, there is a ferry that takes about 30 minutes to the island, you can also rent speed boats. On the island, there are no paved roads. The existing roads may be impassable during heavy rains. There is the possibility of a quad to rent or motorcycle and thus move to the island. Furthermore, there is a taxi company for transportation.
